Getting Started with BJJ in Douglas
Douglas having its own mats means southeastern Cochise County beginners no longer face a 90-minute round trip to Sierra Vista just to train. The Paragon Arizona network connection matters too: curriculum, promotions, and the occasional cross-town training day all plug into a bigger community.
Small-room jiu-jitsu is a genuine advantage for your first year — with a handful of students per class, you get corrections on every rep that beginners in packed Phoenix classes wait weeks for. The trade-off is fewer body types to roll with, which the network open mats help solve.
Plan around the schedule rather than expecting classes every night; in a town this size, the fundamentals classes are the anchor. Pair them with home study of what you drilled, and make the occasional Sierra Vista or Tucson open mat a reward, not a requirement.
